Original: 30" x 40" The Conductor

As a storm approaches, a lone Sycamore Tree presides over a serene valley. It is the calm before the storm as The Conductor seems to raise his limbs to bring the storm alive. Sycamores are my favorite trees. The oldest ones have seen a lot of history (the one below is near the Brandywine Battlefield and was there when it was fought in 1777), and it can be witnessed in their knobby features, huge ascending limbs, their exfoliating bark and smooth white branches. If you look at my paintings, you'll see Mr. Sycamore in quite a few.
