Thoughts On My Painting "The Conductor"

Before a seasoned fiction writer starts to put their thoughts on paper, they’ve thought through things like character development, plot, all of those things, and have a pretty good idea of who these characters are and where they want the story to go. But I’m pretty sure there are times when the characters in their manuscript almost seem to tell the author where the story is going to go, and how they’re going to interact with each other. I can just imagine some author scratching their head and say, “Wow, I didn’t see that coming!”

Winter February 2026

The past 2 weeks have presented a landscape locked in 8 inches of snow with a 2 inch crust of ice as its covering. I love winter, but I have found myself grumbling a bit because I am unable to walk the dog in the farm fields behind my house. I say "The dog" because he isn't actually "my dog". He belongs to my son who has been out of the country for 6+ months and my wife and I happily agreed to take care of him until he returns. That will be soon, but in the meantime, my "happily" has turned to humbug due to the snow and ice.
